asapm Joins IPMA Family!

27 March, 2004, Utrecht, The Netherlands. asapm President Lew Ireland is pleased to announce asapm has been accepted as the U.S.A. Member Association of the International Project Management Association (IPMA). IPMA, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, is an international organization of national project management associations.

This linking with IPMA brings to asapm members and to U.S.A. project management practitioners many benefits, such as:

• free interchange of information with IPMA’s other 33 Member Associations
• improved consistency with the project management practices throughout the World
• invitations to participate in IPMA congresses through presentation of professional papers
• international acceptance of asapm’s competence-based certifications—ideal for multinational
   Enterprises
• participating in a global organization that brings together diverse interests and approaches to
   improving the practice of project management

Benefits for asapm include the exchange of information on a four-level certification program that focuses on performance competence. asapm will use this certification program as the basis for its certification of project managers.

IPMA is a mature organization that was started in 1965. Since its inception in Europe, professional project management associations from all over the world have joined together to form a cooperative alliance that spans national and political boundaries to raise the level of project management expertise in all nations.
